Australian counter-drone firm DroneShield has released a new drone detection product, following extensive development in response to user feedback.
RfZero is an omnidirectional drone detection device with a range of 1 kilometer and is designed as a more cost-effective fixed site alternative to DroneShield’s higher-end product, RfOne – a 5-kilometer radio-frequency direction finder.
RfZero uses DroneShieldComplete, DroneShield’s proprietary counter-drone software user interface and can integrate with other DroneShield products, such as DroneCannon for either automated or manual drone defeat, once RfZero detects the drone.
The product is completely non-emitting, a company statement says, “thus allowing for a substantially larger customer universe.”
DroneShield CEO Oleg Vornik commented:
“RfZero is expected to appeal to a wide range of users looking for a more cost-effective fixed site solution, complementing our RfOne high performance product. Typical target customers for RfZero include prisons, VIPs, commercial sites, mining industry, events, and qualified corporate users, while airport and military customers generally find RfOne to be the more suitable offering. Following the recent releases of the pistol-shaped drone mitigation device DroneGun MKIII and the body-worn RfPatrol detection device.”
Other Droneshield products include:
- DroneSentinel: a multi-prone detection product designed to locate rogue drones. The solution is aimed at customers unable to deploy jamming because of regulatory or operational restrictions.
- DroneSentry: A solution that detects and neutralizes unmanned aerial bandits using jamming technology. The product is geared toward foreign clients – the product has not been authorized by the FCC and may not be sold or leased in the U.S. because it jams radio signals.
In June, DroneShield launched a partnership with Altitude Angel, a leading UTM technology provider. The deal will deploy an integrated product to selected customers to bring “single-point situational awareness” to managed airspace for users such as national governments and airport operators.
In April, DroneShield scored a new agreement with Thales Spain to utilize and promote anti-drone products in its defense and security contract bids in Spain and other countries involving counter-drone technology.
In March, the firm made a deal with Saudi Telecom Company’s executive arm, STC Specialized, to bring enhanced drone detection and mitigation to key sectors such as government installations, industrial plants and wireless communication assets.
