Big tech giant, Apple has appointed Teju Ajani as Country Managing Director for Nigeria. Following her appointment, Ajani becomes the first person and first woman to occupy the lead role for Apple in Nigeria. In her new position, Ajani is expected to supervise Apple’s sales and business development in Nigeria.
The iPhone manufacturer had stated that it was not satisfied with how low its market share is in emerging economies such as Nigeria and will be hoping to boost sales going forward despite prices remaining on the high side.
Meet Teju Ajani
Ajani assumes her role as Apple Managing Director for Nigeria after spending about three years as Google’s Nigeria Country Manager for Android. The global business mogul comes with over 20 years of technology leadership experience as a Software Engineer in Fortune 100 companies across North America, Europe, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
During her time at Google, Teju Ajani worked as Business Development Manager in Nigeria and led content partnerships in Sub Saharan Africa at YouTube, London between 2014 and 2018.
She started out her career as a Software Engineer at Vovida networks in California before going on to work in senior roles at BEA systems, VMware and Oracle spanning 11 years.
Ajani possesses extensive expertise in technology and innovation, strategic planning, partnership building and business development, media content strategy and customer marketing.
She is an alumnus of the University of Ilorin, Nigeria and Golden Gate University, San Francisco where she earned a BSc in Economics and MSc in Software Engineering respectively.
Ajani is a strong advocate for women in leadership and is passionate about technology and its potential as an economic equalizer to open up opportunities for women. She is a frequently featured speaker across technology and media circles.
